What personal information does FreeConvert collect via its website?

We collect data that is required to provide our services to you, as well as data that can assist us in improving our services to you.

FreeConvert collects your IP address when you visit our website and stores it in our MLab database. Atlassin owns MLab, which is a database hosting platform. Various third-party services with which we collaborate collect your personal information as well. This is explained in greater detail below.

Storage of files

All customer files are stored on Amazon Web Services (Ireland).

All user files (including uploaded files, converted files, edited files, images, and signature images) are stored in Ireland on Amazon Web Services ("AWS"Simple ) Storage Service (S3).

Please keep in mind that we do not have access to or view your files. We will only access or view your files with your explicit and written consent, unless such action is required by law. You retain complete control and ownership of your files.

How does FreeConvert keep my personal information safe?

We take numerous precautions to ensure that your data is as secure as possible.

FreeConvert takes several precautions to keep your data safe and private.

To begin, only authorised personnel have access to your data. All employees who have access to your information are required to follow this privacy policy as well as global privacy regulations governing Data Controllers (such as GDPR).

To ensure the security of your data, the company only stores it with world-class service providers (such as Amazon Web Services) and has safeguards in place to prevent unauthorised access (such as hacking).

Finally, all communications between user devices and our systems are SSL encrypted. Any passwords that are saved in our database are also encrypted.

What does FreeConvert do with my personal information?

We use your personal information to provide you with a service. We take precautions to protect your privacy.

Our goal in collecting personal data is to provide adequate support while also constantly improving our products. More specifically, any information gathered from you will be used only for:

Who and why does FreeConvert share my personal information?

Most files uploaded to FreeConvert by users without an account (free plan users) are automatically and permanently deleted after 24 hours. You can also choose to delete the files manually before they are deleted automatically. Please keep in mind that if you share a file with a third party (for example, by requesting a signature), the file will be kept on our server for longer than 24 hours.

FreeConvert stores my files where and how?

We keep all of our files on AWS.

All files uploaded to FreeConvert are stored in Ireland with Amazon Web Services ("AWS"). FreeConvert can provide world-class security while also complying with global privacy regulations by storing files on AWS.

Please keep in mind that we do not have access to or view your files. We will only access or view your files with your explicit and written consent, unless such action is required by law. You retain complete control and ownership of your files.

Which countries receive my personal information and why?

We transfer your personal data outside of the United States while ensuring its security regardless of location.

When you use our service, your personal information may be transferred to other countries such as the United States of America, European Union member states, and the United Kingdom. We only store your data in countries deemed adequate by GDPR regulations. Furthermore, we take precautions to ensure that your personal data is kept secure, regardless of where it is ultimately stored.

FreeConvert employs cookies (or tracking technology) in what ways and why?

FreeConvert and some of the services with which we collaborate use cookies to provide you with our services. We would be unable to provide our service if cookies were not used. FreeConvert employs two kinds of cookies: session cookies and 1-month cookies. Session cookies are temporary files that are deleted when you close your browser. FreeConvert uses them to'remember' any changes you make to a specific web page during a session (e.g. saving changes to a file).

A 1-month cookie is used to allow you to use your free plan without creating an account. This cookie stores information such as (1) how many credits you used in the previous month and (2) which files you worked with during that time. FreeConvert's cookies do not collect personally identifiable information. We would be unable to provide our free plan if cookies were not used.

We do, however, use a few third-party services that employ cookies. These are some examples:

• Cloudflare: DDoS mitigation by identifying trusted web traffic

• Google Analytics is used to analyse user behaviour on our website.

• Facebook: allowing Facebook users to like and share our service

Third-party services do not receive personal information from FreeConvert, but they may track your usage on our website and combine it with information from other websites you have visited.

Users are encouraged to share, follow, and like FreeConvert services on social media platforms such as Facebook, and Instagram. In order to improve our service and minimise errors, we track user behaviour (excluding viewing/accessing your files), system metrics, and any errors. We minimise the collection of personal data to the greatest extent possible in order to protect your privacy.
